This Friday I received a package from Everbloom hair. Daisy is my contact sales person with in Everbloom and she offered me to test the French wave, 100% human hair.

I must admit; I did not get very excited after checking the picture on the website of Everbloom. So, I hesitated a little bit after Daisy made me the offer. However, Daisy has proven to have a good taste, not only because she has a Dutch Boyfriend. She also shares pictures of her weekend trips so I gave her the benefit from the doubt. And ladies I was glad I did.

Because when I opened the parcel and could smell, feel en comb the French wave, it was love at first sight! I do not know if it was the French touch, but j’adore les cheveux !  Or in plain English “I love the hair”.

The hair did not shed, not with the comb or my fingers stroking through the hair, and it passed the fibre test.

Now some more serious testing will take place of the French wave, but before I do I wanted to share my first findings. Simply because I could not wait to share this with you.

You started an online hair store and want all those people who search online to find your store and to buy hair extensions. Because that’s the only way to get sales.

You want to grow your online audience; I recommend to follow the series I started on how to turn your online hair store into a revenue booster. Today the first three tips!

Tip 1. Invest 50% of your time in awesome content on the online hair store

You can invest all the money you have and all the time of the day to improve your SEO, or Search Engine Optimization. But if you fail to give your audience the information they are looking for you can better stop right away.

You need to schedule time in your agenda for online marketing. Invest at least 50% of the time you have available for online marketing, Create and write content for your ideal client. And do not forget beautiful pictures.

Take for example IndiqueHair, the page about their hair has a nice text but also great pictures. Talk the language of your ideal client and help them to find the right information.

 

Tip 2 Talk hair right from the start

Your website full of hair extensions, bundle deals and information on maintenance is the collection of many pages, webpages. Search engines are not searching for websites, but for a page that has the information that matches with the need of the person who typed a key word or phrase in the search bar.

See the search result for how to sell hair extensions, you do not see only one website, but various results of individual webpages.

Make it clear from the start what you are sharing on your webpage, you start with your page title. The page title (include in the <title> tag) should be unique for each page and tell the viewer where the page is about.

This is also important because the page title is displayed in the search results of Google or Bing. This will be the first thing people will see and read about your store.

Check for all your pages, does this text explain in a split second what’s about and is it attractive enough? The lengths should be around 50 to 60 characters to be sure no cut of will take place.

If you service clients in a specific area, it’s smart to include in every page your location.

Tip 3 Make a summary

Every search result shows in short the what the page is about, this helps the viewer to decide if she should click on the link of the search result or not. Google for example might use your summary (in the meta tag) to display with the search result. But if google has the opinion a better piece of text is available they can override your meta tag description.

The great thing is any word the visitor used to search for and that’s included in the metatag is bolded in the user’s query. If somebody is looking for body wave, if you have a post or article with body wave, this will be highlighted. A great way to attract the attention and thus a better change you get a customer!

Tip 4 The roadmap

In any store, and this means also in your online store, you need to help your visitors to find what they are looking for. Create a structure that helps your customer to find, without thinking what they need. So, before you create your website, design a clear path to all your products, articles and for example before and after pictures. Make sure it’s logical, and take your website visitors by the hand.

You can also create a roadmap or website structure for the robots search engines use.  For this you can submit your sitemap top the search engines, this will help the search engines to find the right webpages. Go to Google Search Console, previsously namesd webmasterstool for Google to submit your sitemap.

Conversion between inches and centimeters can be difficult to understand. For example, a common question is: How many centimeters are in 28 inches? Understanding the conversion can be helpful when trying to communicate hair length accurately to clients.

Do you know how long is 28 inches of hair? Have you ever asked your client? Clients love to ask tall lengths. But it is not always clear if the clients do realize how tall 28 inches, or 70 centimeters is. The prices of tall hair are rather high. When you are selling long hair and before you order the hair, double check the need for this tall hair. You will regret investing much money in weaves with great length, while clients only as for shorter length.

What does 28 inches look like?

An image of 28 inches of hair does not tell you anything. Only an image of long hair will not show the potential client, how tall the hair is.
Through Facebook I received a message from Mariana Moreno who has been growing her own hair to an amazing 28 inches! Mariana wanted to sell her hair.

Mariana told me:” I’m selling virgin brown (chestnut) straight hair. My hair is 28 inches long. I never use a curling iron, straightener. I do not drink or smoke and am never around smokers either and eat a very healthy diet. My hair gets washed 1-2 times per week, has never been permed, dyed, bleached or colored”. Very healthy and more important very tall hair.

Be aware, for a length of 28 inches or more you need 5 bundles. The reason is because the hair weight is going all the way down your back and not sewn around your head.

It depends of the texture of the hair, but 28 inches will reach half way the back, for straight and body wave hair.

Should you offer 28 inches or more of hair?

Clients love tall lengths of hair, but the question is if they are willing to pay the price. Especially when they prefer a full head in the same length.
I recommend including in your product and marketing offer tall lengths, 28 and 30 inches. This will help to attract clients to your store. But make sure you show cheaper alternatives of hair lengths also. If the clients doubt because of the high price, she might be interested in your hair at a lesser length.

You are in this business to make people look and feel good, right! But that’s only possible if people buy your hair, if you can stay in business.
Nearly 2 out of three visitors of your website who placed the hair extensions they want in their shopping carts, abandon your website without closing the purchase. And that’s not a nice story to read, so why don’t they want to buy your hair?
You did everything right, you not only have an awesome website, but you also combined your social media to connect with your visitors. Your analytics shows returning visitors are increasing, people not only found your site, they also like to return to your website.
It is getting even more better, they also like your hair and they decide to buy your hair. This is what’s all about, real hair buying customers on your site!
But why isn’t it showing in your wallet? Why does all this good news not increase the balance of your bank account?

1. Do not ask too much questions on checkout

1 out of five visitors leave your site without buying your hair extensions because you ask too many questions on check out. Your client wants only one thing, to buy your hair. But you are already interested in the second time they purchase your hair. So you want to know more about your client. But now you run the risk they will not buy at all.
So avoid a lot of questions on check out, and use email and other media to get a better picture of your client. Allow your client, after the purchase to sign up for your newsletter and ask some additional questions. The deal has been done plus you understand your client more better and you can focus your targeting messages.

2. Coupon

People like coupons, and this is a great way to increase sales because you give some special attention for people who are loyal to you. For example because they signed up for your newsletter.
And people will remember they have a coupon code. But what if the coupon code is not valid at check out. If your client with three bundles hair in their cart are at the check out and they can’t use their coupon, or can’t find it. Their leave the cart, and you lose a client!
If you use a coupon, check if it works well and share the coupon code if your customer checks out. Do not make it a secret!

3. Add more payment options

People do not want to look for the right wallet before they can purchase what they want. Make sure you offer different payment options on your website. If you have to pay a high commission for one or more, offer your clients a discount if they select a cheaper payment method to buy their hair.

4. Avoid surprises

Avoid any surprise and do not charge a shipping or handling fee after your potential client decided to buy from you. This will disrupt the process they have been going through to buy your hair. Nearly 1 out of 3 (!) people abandon their shopping cart if they have to pay shipping expenses, and were not informed earlier in the process.
