This week I launched the first HowToSellHairExtensions Shopify Webstore, On my portfolio page you can see more web stores I designed. The idea was to design for you an easy to use, low cost, professional hair webstore. Dream of Extensions has all you need to start selling hair in Shopify, and to make money the day of the launch.

Theme – the decoration

I started with the Mission Statement of Dream of Extensions. This helps to get a clear picture of the kind of clients we want to sell hair to.

  • what are their needs?
  • what do they like and not like?
  • where do they shop?
  • how much they want to pay?

For this I used The Ideal Client template this assisted me to focus on the people in need of my hair and how to find them. These ideas helped us also to create the name and logo for our webstore. The logo of Dream of Extensions was created using to Hatchful. I selected the kind of business and the type of logo we wanted.

You like the logo? Next to the diamond it was the pink color that made me decide to go for it. Later you will read how amazing it was I selected this color. I used the colors for the background of the webstore. In a way it was the wallpaper of the webstore. For the expressions, I copied the same color of the text of the logo. Did you know, if you want to know the color of any object on an image, you can use a free app like paint. This program has a color picker, that translates any color into the RGB code (255, 255, 255). This is a color code you can use to find the same color in Power Point or any website design program, Like Shopify for example. RGB stands for the basic colors Red, Green and Blue.

Preparation before selling hair on Shopify

Before I started to design the webstore, I prepared the images and the text. Selling hair on Shopify is only possible with great and copyright free images. I created a map on my workstation to store the product images, one for the other images and a map for the text. The latter would contain the text of the legal stuff, like:

It is great if you have a lot of hair to sell, especially with a lot of varieties. The only problem is to record all this in your Shopify hair store. I can tell that is one of the most boring and energy consuming tasks to perform being a store owner. To manually upload your products in your Shopify dream store!

My goals are to make sure you keep on having fun selling hair, so I prepared an easy solution to upload many hair extensions, wigs and braids. I created a template in Excel where you can easily enter all the data about your products. You only must type any items once, and if needed you can copy paste the text or even skip. Please take a note so you do not forget to ask me for the template at the end of this post.

The upload of the hair of Dream of Extensions was done very fast, so thanks to the template the boring stuff did not bother me that much. It was no problem to have many variations in color, length or texture. The great thing is your clients will have so many options, hard to believe their choice will not be in your store!

Terms and conditions and other dull stuff

Some time ago, I did some research. I have some good terms and conditions, a privacy policy and refund policy. These documents I can use and that will help my clients to understand what is and what is not possible with my hair. This is so much better for the relationship with your client. You do not want to explain to a disappointed and emotional client you do not accept the return of hair that has been dyed. For example.

I have the Word documents with the terms and policies available for you, so again please do not forget to ask once you finished this post.

Your product Images

Collect the images of your products. You can ask the wholesaler if you can use their pictures if needed. Make sure to rename the images with the name of your business and the type of hair. That will help you if people search on the internet for images. They will see your store’s name. By the way, it feels so good to upload the hair you are going to sell in the website. Almost the same as putting the hair on the shelves in your in store or salon. Because of this positive vibe I prefer not to include the images in the upload file. But it is possible if you like.

Selling hair on Shopify in a creative way

Do you know, thanks to all preparation already done, to create a webstore is not that much work anymore. You can soon start selling hair on Shopify.
The products are already in the webstore, so all I had to do is to give the store the colors of my logo. I added some nice images that tell the story about my store, but even more important about the people I want to help finding the best hair. Now I noticed one of the happy clients had the same love for pink as I did. She had pink earrings, was wearing a pink shirt and had pink lipstick. How amazing that was. The ideal client template worked! As it always does.

One of the last steps was to add the pages with the legal stuff, the hair care, FAQ and about us page. I only had to do a copy paste. The text was already prepared, so I did not have to type anything. But to pimp up these boring pages, I added an image. This shows the visitor in one second where the page is about. By the way, I managed to create an accordion layout for my FAQ. The one where you only see the header first, and when you click the explanation will show. That really made the Shopify hair webstore look professional!

You can activate the CTR measure, this will tell you what page title was the most relevant for the website visitors and made them click. Now you can also select what pages showed after this query. It is possible multiple pages show for the query “Brazilian Hair Extensions”. And you can also see on what dates your pages were more popular.

To benefit from this, if you make sure the meta tags for your webpage do show a text that will seduce the potential client to click. Write the meta tag with the goal you have with the page in mind. If you want to inform visitors about a show you attended, write the text that you want to share with them your experience of visiting this beauty and hair show. The visitor on Google who is interested in the latest trends on hair will surely click on your page now.
