A Facebook Business Page is like your Livingroom

A Facebook Business Page is like your Livingroom

It will not take long, and every baby born on this world will have her or his own Facebook account. That means, as a business owner you can’ t afford not to be present on Facebook.  But you will not be alone, you will be surrounded by millions of Facebook Business Pages. And many of them will be selling hair. So, how will your client find you?

No problem

Do not worry, your Facebook Business Page can score high in the rankings. This mean more people will see, share and like your age. All you need is to follow a few rules.

Drunk under the Christmas tree

Please, do not us your personal page to promote your business on Facebook. It’s okay not to only post pictures of hair. But do not overdo it by sharing all your beautiful private moments with your ideal client. Not that many people search the internet looking for a snap chat of your aunt with the face of a lovely bunny.

Show your followers, you are a real person and keep them interested in your postings. New Year party with you and your latest shipment installed, fine. You drunk under the Christmas tree, wrong!

Facebook Business Page

A Facebook Business Page tells the truth

You want people to notice your outstanding postings and to interact, right!

You can read as many articles about successful Facebook postings as you want. No one will tell you what works best for you. Only the Facebook insight page will tell the truth. On this page, you can see exactly what posting your followers liked and shared. This page only comes with a Facebook business Page. A reason more to use this option.

I have seen that brand before

If you are in the hair business you must have a logo. This is a beautiful design that tells the viewer in one blink of the eye who you are and what you sell. Make sure the style, colour and wordings of your logo come back in your website, business card and all your social media profiles. You want to give people that aha feeling. They should think, I have seen that brand before. The more a stranger sees your logo, or brand, especially on different platforms, the more they will feel connected. They will feel your brand can be trusted. And that’s good because they will buy from you faster.

Keep your Facebook Business Page look good

The header of your Facebook Business Page is the anchor for your Followers. I just mentioned the importance of one style. This helps people to stay connected. But think of the impact if you replace your furniture in the living room. What is the reaction of your friends if they visit you? “Hey, did you buy a new sofa? How nice!” Your living room feels brand new again, but with the same furniture. You can do the same with a new profile picture, but with the same style, colour setting or theme.

People love to see themselves in a mirror

What happens if people enter your store or salon, or house and they see a mirror? The can’t resist to watch themselves in this mirror. You can get the same response if you add in your profile picture your ideal client. Or an item your ideal client has a connection with. You sell Brazilian hair, add a flavour of Brazil to your profile picture. You sell to Afro- Americans use a role model.

Use a red flag

Bulls in the arena, or in the field, the immediately respond if they see a red flag, fluttering in the wind. The same goes for your followers. Publish a post and make sure the title acts like a red flag. Try to challenge the reader. Instead of “See my new bundle deal”, try “Do you like to pay too much for your hair?” It’s important to experiment with the titles.  Facebook Insight helps a lot because it will tell you the kind of titles that earned the most interaction, like shares, comments or likes.

What do you want me to do?

Nice your followers read you post, but you had a purpose when you wrote the post. You want your followers to do something. The great thing is, this is exactly what your followers want to know. What do you want me to do now? So, end your post with a clear call to action. Subscribe to my newsletter, leave a comment, tell me more….

How long is 28 inches of hair?

Conversion between inches and centimeters can be difficult to understand. For example, a common question is: How many centimeters are in 28 inches? Understanding the conversion can be helpful when trying to communicate hair length accurately to clients.

Do you know how long is 28 inches of hair? Have you ever asked your client? Clients love to ask tall lengths. But it is not always clear if the clients do realize how tall 28 inches, or 70 centimeters is. The prices of tall hair are rather high. When you are selling long hair and before you order the hair, double check the need for this tall hair. You will regret investing much money in weaves with great length, while clients only as for shorter length.

What does 28 inches look like?

An image of 28 inches of hair does not tell you anything. Only an image of long hair will not show the potential client, how tall the hair is.
Through Facebook I received a message from Mariana Moreno who has been growing her own hair to an amazing 28 inches! Mariana wanted to sell her hair.

Mariana told me:” I’m selling virgin brown (chestnut) straight hair. My hair is 28 inches long. I never use a curling iron, straightener. I do not drink or smoke and am never around smokers either and eat a very healthy diet. My hair gets washed 1-2 times per week, has never been permed, dyed, bleached or colored”. Very healthy and more important very tall hair.

Be aware, for a length of 28 inches or more you need 5 bundles. The reason is because the hair weight is going all the way down your back and not sewn around your head.

It depends of the texture of the hair, but 28 inches will reach half way the back, for straight and body wave hair.

Do you want to create your own online store?

How much is 28 inches of hair?

Mariana was selling her virgin brown hair for $ 900.
Mariana continued” I use the “No poo method”, I wash my hair with apple cider vinegar, or I wash it with a shampoo I make by myself (natural and no chemical).
Of course, the $ 900 is for a full head. If you check the prices in some store you see 28 inches of hair will range between $ 150 and $ 250.

Should you offer 28 inches or more of hair?

Clients love tall lengths of hair, but the question is if they are willing to pay the price. Especially when they prefer a full head in the same length.
I recommend including in your product and marketing offer tall lengths, 28 and 30 inches. This will help to attract clients to your store. But make sure you show cheaper alternatives of hair lengths also. If the clients doubt because of the high price, she might be interested in your hair at a lesser length.

Hair Extensions Sellers in Nairobi

Hair Extensions Sellers in Nairobi

It’s weekend and I decided to visit some hair extensions sellers in Nairobi. Lately I see an increase of visitors from Kenya to my website. In my mails I get more women from Kenya asking for support. I even have contact with a nice woman, born in Kenya, but who now lives all the way in the North of Europe who is selling hair.

Hair Extensions Sellers in Nairobi

So what’s going on in Kenya? What do the hair stores offer, how do they approach their clients, and is there indeed room enough for hair extensions sellers in Nairobi? Because there I want to start my journey of this weekend.

Who is selling hair in Nairobi?

My journey started with Google Search, “Hair extensions sellers in Nairobi” and I found a post from Laura Wanjiru. “Hair Products Stores Online in Kenya”.  She starts to tell about the needs of busy women in Kenya. They all like wigs and weaves, but lack the time to do shopping! The solution Laura tells is online shopping. It saves time and energy to look for online hair extensions sellers in Nairobi.

Get the all-in-one hair business package, complete with hair samples and launch your own hair store now

House of Weaves and wigs

Her first recommendation is House of Weaves and wigs, an online store (Facebook) plus own salon in Utalii street (near the Laico Regency Hotel). The Facebook page confuses me a bit. I see the last post is from April. Why is it this quiet? No customers any more or too many clients to find time to update the Facebook page. Laura was true. Women in Kenya have busy schedules. If you know House of Weaves and Wigs let me know in the comments below.

I will drop them a line and move further. The bad thing for stores on online shopping is visitors can change their mind within a second or two. So make sure you, if you are in business to share a sign of life. This can be a picture, a small comment, but anything is better than nothing. So hair extensions sellers in Nairobi, update your social media at least once a week, otherwise you lose great opportunities!

Unbeweavable hair Kenya

The second suggestion from Laura was Unbeweavable hair Kenya. The link to the Facebook page was invalid, so I used to google search. As I already planned to do so as from the beginning searching for hair extensions sellers in Kenya. The search page showed me lot of possibilities to visit Unbeweavable hair Kenya.

I wanted to see when the last post was, so I jump in the Instagram page. My Windows phone works with a Beta version of Instagram and the last weeks it is very difficult to use Instagram. I really regret this, because I love Instagram. You can see I did not post that many pictures myself recently, but please blame it on my Lumia phone.

Back to Unbeweavable hair on Instagram. Wow, I liked the pictures. Why? Because it was a mixture of photoshoots and selfies. Not to smooth but real. Especially the pictures from happy clients. Really, this is the only business where you can show so many happy people who all look gorgeous. These selfies of happy clients are a good way to gain confidence from new visitors. So if I was you, make your clients happy and ask for a selfie for your social media.

After all that social media, I wanted to visit the website, I know the last update on Instagram, nearly 12,000 followers, was done 16 hours ago. But on Instagram I only saw the link to Facebook. So, that’s what I did, I clicked on the link again et voila! A Facebook page opened and it worked this time.  This page was with a post of the 18th of august rather up to date. And with over 100,000 fans a place to be for many.

Now I saw where they are located, so pay attention! “We are located in Wood avenue court in Kilimani. Turn right at the Wood Avenue junction off Argwings Kodhek road if coming from yaya/town.Turn right again onto the small cabro road just before Sidian Bank. Then turn left into a light blue gate. We are on the 4th building in the compound on the first floor.”

Mission statement

Do you also always look for the about page, just to know more about the person behind the hair store. Here I found the link of the website too, so I visited Unbeweavable hair and a beautiful website opened. I check the … about is page and I could not believe my eyes. There in the middle of the page was the mission statement, they even highlighted it.

“Our mission is to bring the finest quality hair extensions that cater to your individual style at the most affordable prices.”

Isn’t it great because now you know what you can expect if you visit their social media or website or if you enter their store.

Tell me about Hair Extensions Sellers in Nairobi

Talking about their store, if you are from Kenya and you are in Nairobi, could you tell me more in the comments about  the Unbeweavable hair  store on  WOOD AVENUE COURT Wood Avenue, Kilimani. Or if you have ideas for a totally other kind of hair business.  In the meantime I look for more stores in Nairobi.

This is a market with, I estimate 8 million small markets, because they are all individuals and they all deserve a special treatment for their own special needs.

Should I focus on only one person?

Yes, and No.

Yes, if you service your clients, you should focus on the individual in your store or online shop. Give her the best possible personalized service possible

And No, if we talk about your marketing message, what are you going to communicate and through what channel? Within the group of Afro American Women, you have to look for individuals who have a common ground. This can be:

  • A geography, your state or home town
  • Cultural background
  • Education, sports or Industry they work in
  • Special Interests, did you know The Real Housewives of Atlanta has nearly 3 million fans?
  • Anything that bonds people

A great help is the Ideal Client Template, this template will help you to define and find the buying persona who is looking for hair. She will meet your offer through your marketing channels because you know at what channels she is looking for hair and how. Shouldn’t I sell hair to other people anymore?

It does not mean you should not sell to others anymore, you can still sell your hair to Afro American Women, to all 8 million. Every sale is a sale! But you have to focus your messages on a special group. Now you can share content of topics your potential clients are interested in, besides hair extensions. Now you know where to go to meet your potential clients. This will help you also to rank higher in Google, because there are 8.5 million results if you search for Afro American Women and only 5 million for Afro American Women Real House Wives of Atlanta. Still a lot, but less!

Less is more! More Focus More Sales

How to offer Hair Extensions in your salon

How to offer Hair Extensions in your salon

To offer hair extensions, as a professional salon is a great way to broaden your service to your clients and to increase your revenue margin. But be sure you are an expert in this, to stand out from the crowd and to be sure your clients will benefit from it to the full.

If you take these 9 bullets into consideration you and your clients will benefit the most:

1.With extensions you can offer, without the need to cut the hair or to wait for it to grow, additional length, volume, texture and color. This will help you to create the perfect makeover. Do not sell hair extensions, but focus on your clients’ needs and wishes and if extensions will support these desires to come true you can install them;

2.do not offer anonymous hair, but offer a brand to your clients; this will make it easier for your client to identify herself with the hair.

3.Analyze the quality and benefits of every brand, take your time to be sure you only offer what´s best for your clients

4.If you analyze a brand, do not only check the hair, but also the support they provide on marketing, logistics and promotion. Most information is available on their website or in special information packages they will forward you by email

5.Most brands offer trainings to make sure you know everything about their products and you can install them at the best level. Focus on the various techniques, like warm and cold fusion, clip on, bonded and adhesive sticker techniques

6.Make sure you or your head of staff is certified

7.Do not compete on price but on service, if needed you can offer a discount voucher on hair maintenance products. This will allow you to keep the required price level.

8.Prepare an annual marketing plan, with advertising, promotions special events and media attention.

9.Make sure your clients know you offer hair extensions, do not expect them to start to discuss this with you or your staff. Tell them you offer extensions and for example prepare a flyer and do not forget to include some before and after pictures.
